"I believe in the Church of Baseball.  I've tried all the major religions, and most of the  minor ones.    I've worshipped
Buddha,  Allah,  Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan.   I know things.   For instance, there
are 108 beads in a Catholic  rosary and there are 108 stitches  in a baseball.   When I heard that, I gave Jesus a chance.
But it just didn't work out between us.   The Lord laid too much guilt on me.   I prefer metaphysics to theology.   You see,
there's no guilt in baseball, and it's never boring... which makes it like sex...I've tried 'em all, I really have, and  the only
church that truly feeds the soul, day in, day out, is the Church of Baseball."     -

Well done!  Well done!  Well done!  What a great All-Star Game win for Joe Maddon, the Rays Coaching staff, Carl Crawford, Evan Longoria, Jason Bartlett, Carlos Pena, Ben Zobrist, Edwin Jackson and the rest of the American League All-Stars.

Congratulations to Carl Crawford on being the All-Star Game Most Valuable Player.  I am so proud of you!
You are simply the best!

CONGRATULATIONS
 TO THE RAYS
THE 2008
AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST CHAMPIONS!
Thanks for an unbelievable season!
GO RAYS!

Greetings friends and fellow baseball enthusiast!  I love that quote from Bull Durham!  This Web site is a small glimpse into my exciting fun-filled world of baseball.  I'm an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Rays.  Yes, the Tampa Bay Rays!  They truly are a phenomenal team.  I'm not just saying that because they had an amazing season going from worst to first.  They are currently the American League East Champions.  Their performance was outstanding.  I’m so proud of them.  I've been a fan through the lowest of lows but I always had faith.  I can't begin to tell how excited I am about this season and this team.

The 2008 season was a pretty awesome time for me as well.  In February 2008, I was inducted into the Rays’ Pepsi Wall of Fame.  Seriously!  It's really quite the honor.  Little did I know there’s fame that accompanies this honor.  In fact, at spring training last year, some kid actually came up and asked me for my autograph while I was waiting in line at the lemonade stand.  What a strange experience.  This kid must’ve been about seven or eight.  He asked me to sign a new MLB ball.  I admit I really didn’t want to ruin a perfect ball.  I asked him if he had a program or something else.  He looked at his father and his father assured me that they really did want the ball signed.  I reluctantly signed the ball to please the kid.  Surprisingly, I made their day.  Meanwhile I was left there feeling like I committed a mortal sin.  There you go, my three seconds of fame in a nutshell.

I'm proud to say I’m a Rays’ season ticket holder.  I had perfect home game attendance for the 2007 season.  It’s quite an accomplishment considering how much time I spend on the road getting to and from the Trop.  I don’t live anywhere near the Trop or St. Petersburg for that matter.  I just can't image not going to a game if you already paid for the ticket and parking.  It's a no-brainer.  I attended a total of 122 games which included a few road trips.  I almost had perfect attendance this year but I missed the Kansas City Royals' series (July 4th weekend.)  For good reason, though, I went to Albuquerque, N.M., to see Brian Stokes pitch.  He was with the New Orleans' Zephrys who were playing against the Albuquerque Isotopes.  That was one of my many memorable road trips last year.

The Trop is basically my home away from home.  Yeah, I know that sounds corny.  You have to understand, it’s where all my friends gather and it’s where I have the greatest moments ever.  I'm all about having great "moments."

I love the whole team.  The guys on the team are the best.  Though I have to admit, I tend to gravitate to a few specific players.  You might be surprise to hear that some are not Rays' players.  However, I am a baseball enthusiast and to me that encompasses ALL of baseball including other team's players.  Anyway, I have two favorite players set in stone.  In the number one spot is the amazing Rocco Baldelli and in the two spot is the incredible Curtis Thigpen.  This explains why they are among the few to have a dedicated page.  They are both hard working and determined individuals.  They impress me with their work ethic.  I believe wholeheartedly that they are each destined for greatness.  It's going to be a blast watching their accomplishments.

As I mentioned, I do have other favorite players.  Some of them are Carl Crawford (an MVP on the field and in my heart), Carlos Pena (he always smells good), Jonny Gomes (he is my hero), Gary Glover, Jason Hammel, J.P. "Dude" Howell, Shawn Riggans, Grant Balfour, Brian Stokes (the nicest guy in baseball), Ryan Garko (Jungle Legend), Grady Sizemore, Alex Rodriguez, Raul Ibanez, Miguel Cabrera, Miguel Batista, George Sherrill, Eric Byrnes and Kevin Millar.

I invite you to take a look around my site and enjoy.  I'm a pretty busy person during baseball season so please be patient if the updates are not made in a timely manner.  Come on, baseball is my other full time job!

See you at the ballpark,

Jay

I’ve come to the conclusion that the two most important things in life are good friends and a good Bullpen-Bob Lemon
